Brazilian table tennis player Hugo Calderano was eliminated from the WTT Champions in Montpellier, France, following a semifinal loss to South Korea’s Jang Woojin. 

After progressing through the early stages by defeating Japan’s Hiroto Shinozuka and overcoming Russia’s Vladimir Sidorenko in a seven-set quarterfinal, Calderano entered the semifinals as the sixth seed. During the semifinal match, Calderano managed to take a 2 to 1 lead and later tied the score at 3 to 3 in the sixth set. 

However, the match ultimately went to a deciding seventh set, where Jang Woojin secured the victory. The final scores of the seven-set battle were 11/8, 8/11, 7/11, 11/7, 14/12, 9/11, and 14/12, preventing Calderano from reaching the tournament final.
