Hull City and Everton played to a 2-2 draw in a Premier League sixth-round match at the MKM Stadium. The first half remained scoreless after a Brennan Johnson goal for Everton was disallowed following a VAR review for offside.

Four goals were scored within a 25-minute span during a highly active second half. Joe Gelhardt opened the scoring for Hull City in the 48th minute following a defensive error by Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Everton responded through a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall header in the 55th minute. Dewsbury-Hall then assisted Thierno Barry in the 68th minute to give Everton a 2-1 lead. Hull City secured a late equalizer in the 74th minute when substitute Mohamed Belloumi scored a shot that beat goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Following the match, Everton manager David Moyes expressed frustration, stating the team had ‘very few performers’ at the required level and citing defensive lapses. Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović acknowledged ‘cardinal mistakes’ that allowed Everton to take the lead but praised his team’s mentality for securing the point.

While Thierno Barry scored his third Premier League goal in six appearances, analysts noted his high number of missed big chances. The result maintains Everton’s unbeaten status for the first six matches of the 2026-27 Premier League season, leaving them fifth in the standings. Hull City remains unbeaten at home this season and holds ninth place in the standings.
