Hulu has officially greenlit a full series order for a reimagining of the science-fiction franchise ‘The X-Files’. Developed by filmmaker Ryan Coogler, who wrote, directed, and executive produced the pilot, the project is a collaboration between Proximity Media, Onyx Collective, and 20th Television.

The series will feature new characters rather than direct iterations of the original protagonists, starring Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel as two different FBI agents assigned to a division investigating unexplained phenomena. Original series creator Chris Carter remains involved as an executive producer. While a release date has not been announced, the series will be available on Disney+ in various international markets.
