Developments: 2. The Hungarian government convened a two-day cabinet summit in Erdőbény to address several national priorities, including the economy, public administration, and energy policy. Prime Minister Péter Magyar noted that discussions involved intensive topics such as inflation and the potential removal of food price caps, which requires consultation with industry stakeholders. As the summit progressed, officials detailed plans for the 2027 budget, which Finance Minister András Kármán stated would be submitted to Parliament earlier than usual to facilitate data-driven planning. The proposed budget includes significant increases to the minimum pension, raising it from 28,500 HUF to 120,000 HUF, as well as increases for orphan, disability, and elderly benefits. Environmental policy also took center stage with the development of a new climate law designed to prioritize water retention and habitat restoration in response to droughts. To support the agricultural sector during these dry conditions, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food introduced a “force majeure” exemption. This measure allows farmers to maintain access to various subsidies, such as BISS and CRISS, even if they cannot meet specific requirements like soil cover or expected yields due to drought. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-03: Hungarian government discusses 2027 budget and climate law The Hungarian government is meeting in Erdőbénye to discuss the 2027 budget, including pension increases, and a new climate law, while implementing drought-related subsidy protections for farmers. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/hungarian-government-discusses-2027-budget-and-climate-law ### 2026-10-03: Hungarian government holds two-day summit in Erdőbény Prime Minister Péter Magyar is leading a two-day government summit in Erdőbény to discuss the budget, economic restructuring, water management, and the potential removal of food price caps. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/hungarian-government-holds-two-day-summit-in-erdbny --- Cite as: Hungarian government cabinet summit.
