Sources: 3. Developments: 2. To commemorate the centenary of the creation and promulgation of Hunmaengjeongeum, the Korean Braille system, a special exhibition titled ‘From Dots to the World: The 100th Anniversary of Hunmaengjeongeum’ was held at the National Museum of World Writing in Incheon. Following this, Incheon Metropolitan City announced a broader initiative to honor Park Du-seong and promote the Braille system. This comprehensive project includes correcting historical inaccuracies on a memorial stone at Yulmok Children's Park regarding Park’s birth year and birthplace. The city also plans to revise local ordinances to fund direct commemorative, educational, and promotional activities rather than supporting specific organizations. Future plans for 2025 and 2027 involve registering cultural heritage sites, establishing an archive, hosting academic conferences, and organizing sensory tours. Additionally, the city aims to improve accessibility for the visually impaired by producing guides for public institutions on Braille documentation and strengthening the public Braille document request system. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-15: Incheon to expand commemorative projects for Park Du-seong and Korean Braille Incheon is expanding commemorative projects for Park Du-seong and the 100th anniversary of Hunmaengjeongeum (Korean Braille) to improve accessibility and correct historical records. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/incheon-to-expand-commemorative-projects-for-park-du-seong-and-korean-braille ### 2026-10-06: Hunmaengjeongeum centenary exhibition held in Incheon The National Museum of World Writing in Incheon hosted a special exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of the creation and promulgation of Hunmaengjeongeum, the Korean Braille system. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/hunmaengjeongeum-centenary-exhibition-held-in-incheon --- Cite as: Hunmaengjeongeum centenary commemorations in Incheon.
