Hurricane Isaias has intensified into a Category 3 storm approaching the U.S. Gulf Coast, causing fatalities in Florida and Alabama and impacting approximately 63% of oil production in the Gulf of Mexico.

The storm continues to threaten college football schedules across the Southeast. In Atlanta, the Georgia Tech versus Duke matchup at Bobby Dodd Stadium faces potential disruption from heavy rain, 50 mph winds, and isolated tornadoes, which may lead to a delayed kickoff. In Tennessee, the Ole Miss versus Vanderbilt game remains under threat of lightning-induced play halts due to a 90% chance of precipitation and high wind gusts.

Disruptions have already occurred in Mississippi, where the Centre College versus Millsaps Majors game was moved to a Friday night to avoid the weather; the Majors ultimately won 28-13.

Regarding the SEC matchup between Alabama and Georgia in Tuscaloosa, the game remains scheduled despite the storm. Officials have implemented safety precautions, including modified tailgating hours and indoor media broadcasts. Additionally, Donald Trump announced he will no longer attend the Alabama-Georgia game, stating on Truth Social that he is skipping the event to ensure law enforcement and first responders can focus on the hurricane without distraction.
