Following the May 23 murder of senior advocate and Waqf activist Khaja Moizuddin in Nampally, Hyderabad police arrested seven individuals. Investigations suggested the killing, involving a high-speed SUV strike, was planned due to disputes over Waqf property.

In August, a Metropolitan Sessions Court ordered two days of police custody for Mahboob Alam Khan, the second accused in the case. During this period, Mahboob Alam Khan and his son, Mujahid Alam Khan, filed a writ petition in the Hyderabad High Court to challenge the seizure of nine firearms registered in their names.

By early September, the legal proceedings saw several accused individuals released on bail. Mujahid Alam Khan, identified as the prime accused, was granted bail by a Nampally criminal court, alongside associates Dighan Vinay and Manideep ‘Pogo’ Nani. Mahboob Alam Khan had previously been granted bail on August 13.
