Sources: 6. Developments: 2. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and U.S.-based SIG SAUER have conducted live-fire testing of the FIRE STORM 250, a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aircraft system. Conducted in Israel, the trials demonstrated the drone’s ability to integrate intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance with direct kinetic capabilities. The system utilizes a SIG SAUER MICROLIGHT remote controlled weapon station equipped with an M250 machine gun. During testing, the drone used electro-optical sensors to detect and track targets in a simulated battlefield, performing shots from various altitudes and ranges while providing real-time sensor data to operators. Based on the IAI Apus 60 VTOL platform, the drone features a multi-fuel internal-combustion engine providing up to three hours of flight endurance. The system is designed for field refueling and can be launched or recovered without specialized aviation infrastructure, supporting roles in reconnaissance, border surveillance, and direct support for ground troops. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-18: Israel Aerospace Industries and SIG SAUER test armed Fire Storm 250 drone Israel Aerospace Industries and SIG SAUER successfully tested the Fire Storm 250, an armed quadcopter drone capable of three-hour flights and equipped with an M250 machine gun for military support. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/israel-aerospace-industries-and-sig-sauer-test-armed-fire-storm-250-drone-1 ### 2026-10-14: Israel Aerospace Industries and SIG SAUER test armed FIRE STORM 250 drone Israel Aerospace Industries and SIG SAUER successfully tested the FIRE STORM 250, an armed VTOL drone capable of surveillance and direct fire support using an M250 machine gun. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/israel-aerospace-industries-and-sig-sauer-test-armed-fire-storm-250-drone --- Cite as: IAI and SIG SAUER FIRE STORM 250 drone testing.
