In late July 2026 Iberia introduced a summer promotion with low‑fare flights from Madrid to several U.S. cities and new low‑price seats to Mexico, while its sister carrier Iberojet added a third weekly Madrid‑San José (Costa Rica) service for the 2027‑2028 season.

In early August, Iberia Group expanded its service through subsidiaries Air Nostrum and Iberia Express. Following a successful bid for a public-service obligation contract from Spain’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the group will operate three daily flights between Madrid and Menorca starting in November. This increase in frequency is expected to raise seat capacity by approximately 27% compared to the previous winter schedule. Antonio Linares, Iberia’s sales director for Spain, Portugal and North Africa, noted the extra flight “is a key step to break seasonality and make daily travel easier, while also linking Menorca more directly to Iberia’s international network via Madrid.”

Additionally, Iberia Express marked a decade of seasonal operations on the Madrid to Reykjavik route. Since June 2016, the airline has completed over 1,000 flights to Iceland, transporting more than 170,000 passengers. The current summer service, which utilizes Airbus A321neo aircraft, is scheduled to continue until September 30.
