In early October 2026, Shafali Verma, Sree Charani, and Chamari Athapaththu were nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for September 2026. The nominations were based on performances in the Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games. Notable achievements included Shafali Verma’s 360 runs in seven T20Is and Sree Charani becoming the highest-rated women’s T20I bowler in history.

By mid-October, Shafali Verma was officially named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for September, marking her second career monthly honor. She secured the title ahead of fellow nominees Sree Charani and Chamari Athapaththu. Verma’s recognition followed her role as a leading run-scorer for India during the Asia Cup, where she aggregated 360 runs with a strike rate of 184.61 and contributed six wickets, alongside an unbeaten century against Bangladesh in the Asian Games semifinal.

Additionally, Shubman Gill was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for the same period. This marked his record-extending fifth monthly award, following a dominant ODI series against the West Indies. During that series, Gill scored 333 runs, including a historic, unbeaten 223 off 133 balls in the second match. His double century was the fastest in ODI history and aided India in successfully chasing down a 406-run target.
