During the incident, unmarked vehicles intercepted a vehicle near the intersection of 16th and C streets, resulting in the arrest of a driver believed to be a student. A passenger fled the vehicle and was pursued onto the college campus before agents stopped the pursuit upon entering campus grounds. The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) condemned the incident, describing the intrusion as “disruptive, unwelcome, and in conflict with the SDCCD’s core values.” The district noted that such enforcement activities are prohibited under California law. By October, educational institutions in the region were addressing concerns regarding federal enforcement presence. While UC San Diego officials stated they could not confirm reports from student advocacy groups alleging that university property was used as a staging ground for operations in August, the SDCCD moved to implement new safety protocols. These measures include installing 68 signs prohibiting ICE entrance on campus grounds and utilizing the RAVE emergency alert system to notify students via text message when ICE presence is detected or when agents have departed. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: San Diego colleges respond to ICE activity near campuses San Diego colleges are addressing ICE activity near campuses through new safety protocols, including emergency text alerts and signage prohibiting enforcement presence at SDCCD schools. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/san-diego-colleges-respond-to-ice-activity-near-campuses ### 2026-09-08: ICE agents arrest student near San Diego City College ICE agents arrested a driver, believed to be a San Diego City College student, near campus on Tuesday.
