Developments: 2. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has conducted several operations in New Jersey, sparking legal and local controversies. In early October, agents conducted raids in Parsippany, including the detention of four individuals from a vehicle. Reports emerged suggesting that ICE may be utilizing a warehouse in Roxbury as a detention facility, potentially violating a court order that prohibits the conversion of such warehouses into detention centers pending environmental assessments. By late October, ICE operations in North Bergen drew criticism from local officials and residents following an encounter with an 18-year-old student. While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) maintained the operation was a targeted effort resulting in nine arrests of individuals with criminal histories, local leaders raised concerns regarding the use of masks by agents. DHS has challenged New Jersey laws requiring officers to reveal their identities, labeling such measures “unconstitutional” and arguing that face coverings are necessary for officer safety. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-20: ICE agents face scrutiny after encounter with student in North Bergen ICE agents face backlash in North Bergen, New Jersey, after masked officers questioned an 18-year-old student near a high school during an operation that resulted in nine arrests. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ice-agents-face-scrutiny-after-encounter-with-student-in-north-bergen ### 2026-10-06: ICE agents conduct raids in New Jersey amid warehouse detention reports ICE agents have conducted raids in New Jersey, amid reports that a Roxbury warehouse is being used for detention despite legal restrictions and court orders. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ice-agents-conduct-raids-in-new-jersey-amid-warehouse-detention-reports --- Cite as: ICE enforcement operations in New Jersey.
