The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is undergoing a military restructuring that includes the creation of specialized technological units. Initially, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir announced the establishment of a Space Division within the Planning Directorate and a Robotics Division under the Depth Corps. This restructuring also includes the revival of the 500th Armored Brigade.

Following these announcements, Defense Minister Israel Katz detailed the establishment of a dedicated military space brigade as part of the Hoshen modernization program. Describing the initiative as a ‘blue-and-white Star Wars’ effort, Katz stated the unit will focus on satellite-based intelligence, orbital surveillance, and space warfare capabilities. The brigade aims to strengthen Israel’s regional and global position through the ability to monitor and strike targets from space, while also driving national economic growth through technological development.
