Preparations for the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) 2027 in the Ruhr region of North Rhine-Westphalia are underway through a series of ‘Future Gardens’ events. In October 2026, a joint construction and family festival was organized across several sites, including Duisburg, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, and Lünen.

While most locations remain active construction zones, the Emscherland Future Garden in Castrop-Rauxel has already been developed into a nature and water experience park. The festival offered guided tours to provide insight into the development and vision for the upcoming exhibition.

The IGA 2027 is expected to be the largest garden show in Europe, with organizers anticipating more than three million visitors when the exhibition runs from April 23 to mid-October 2027.
