A massive illegal waste disposal site was discovered in the Casarella area of Casal di Principe. Following orders from Giuseppe Vadalà, the commissioner for the Terra dei Fuochi, authorities removed vegetation to reveal over 20,000 square meters of waste. The site contained compacted piles several meters high, deep cavities, and pools of greenish liquid, suggesting extensive excavation and burial activities designed to hide the dumping.

In response to the discovery, which was initially prompted by a citizen report, local authorities and the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Terra dei Fuochi have launched a remediation plan. Due to the high complexity and cost of the operation, the municipal administration is working with higher-level institutional channels to characterize the contamination and manage the cleanup process.
