Vietnamese authorities have dismantled two separate criminal rings involved in telecommunications and impersonation fraud.

In Da Nang and Hanoi, police disrupted an inter-provincial group led by Vu Duc Phong. The ring defrauded hundreds of victims of over 4 billion VND by using fake online loan advertisements and impersonating an internet personality to solicit ‘processing fees’ or ‘taxes’ via Telegram.

In Lạng Sơn, provincial police detained seven individuals, including ringleader Nguyễn Văn Hậu, for a scheme involving the impersonation of delivery drivers. Investigations revealed that Hậu established the domestic network under instructions from foreign handlers after gaining experience with scam operations in Cambodia. The group utilized burner SIM cards, fake Facebook profiles, and stolen customer data to facilitate the theft of assets.
