The exhibition ‘The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse’ is being hosted by major art institutions in North America.

In Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is presenting the collection to explore how the movement challenged state-run European academies. The exhibition focuses on the shift toward depicting everyday life and fleeting light, noting how technological advancements like the collapsible tin paint tube enabled plein air painting.

In California, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art is also hosting the exhibition as part of a strategy to increase national visibility and accessibility. Led by director Amada Cruz, the museum’s curatorial approach includes a combination of 19th-century masters and contemporary artists such as Elliot Hundley and Joan Tanner.
