The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has completed the construction of a new hemodialysis unit at the Hospital General de Subzona (HGSZ) No. 7 in La Piedad, Michoacán. The 472-square-meter facility was developed through a 25 million peso investment and a collaboration between the institute and the local business sector.

The unit is designed to provide renal replacement therapy for patients with chronic kidney disease or renal insufficiency, serving the local region as well as neighboring areas in Guanajuato and Jalisco. The facility includes nine treatment stations, an isolation area, nephrology offices, stabilization areas, and specialized services for nutrition and social work. By offering local care, the project aims to eliminate the necessity for patients to travel to Zamora up to three times per week.
