Preparations for the 2026 Incheon Open Port Heritage Night festival included extended operating hours for the Wolmi Sea Train and the integration of AI, AR, and VR technologies to showcase cultural heritage sites.

The festival officially commenced on October 9 in the Jemulpo-gu Open Port Cultural District. The event, themed ‘Living Heritage,’ features media art, street parades, and night markets. During the opening, Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae highlighted the festival's growth and its role in connecting historical preservation with economic vitality. This cultural initiative is being linked to a 637.2 billion won redevelopment project of Incheon Port’s Inner Harbor, which aims to transform the area into a cultural and tourism complex by 2029.

Coinciding with the festival, Incheon Metropolitan City celebrated its 62nd Citizen's Day at Incheon Grand Park, introducing the new administrative slogan: ‘A New Standard, Now the Incheon Era!’ Mayor Park Chan-dae promoted the concept of ‘Incheon Re-rating,’ which seeks to increase the city's value through its global airport, ports, and high-tech sectors such as bio and semiconductors.

Furthering urban regeneration efforts, the city announced a 26.1 billion KRW investment to transform the 537,114 square meter Jemulpo Open Port area into a stay-over tourism hub by 2032. This phased project will begin with pilot programs like the Incheon Station Plaza environment improvement and the Jemulpo Time Road project, with long-term goals of securing national subsidies to establish a sustainable cultural and tourism center.
