In Belgium, efforts to increase inclusive leisure and sports opportunities for youth with disabilities have progressed through administrative initiatives and local community events. In Antwerp, the city launched a call for organizations to propose leisure activities tailored for teenagers and young people with physical, mental, or neurodiverse challenges. The initiative seeks to ensure accessibility for the city’s estimated 2,400 young people living with disabilities by encouraging both specialized and broadly inclusive programs. In Brugge, inclusivity has been implemented through the Urban Youth Games, which brought together students from both mainstream and special education schools to participate in activities like football and skateboarding. This event included a partnership with the Club Brugge Foundation to support G-football, and the city has extended its cooperation with the games through 2031. Additionally, local schools in Bavegem have integrated movement and sports representation into their educational activities. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-30: Youth sports initiatives promote inclusivity in Belgium Youth sports programs in Belgium are promoting inclusivity, highlighted by the Urban Youth Games in Brugge and school-based athletic activities in Bavegem. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/youth-sports-initiatives-promote-inclusivity-in-belgium ### 2026-08-31: Antwerp seeks leisure providers for youth with disabilities Antwerp is seeking organizations to develop inclusive leisure activities for teenagers and young people with disabilities to ensure social accessibility for the city's youth. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/antwerp-seeks-leisure-providers-for-youth-with-disabilities --- Cite as: Inclusive youth leisure and sports in Belgium.
