Sources: 20. Developments: 2. Both the Indian and New Zealand cricket teams are managing significant player availability concerns ahead of their upcoming series in New Zealand, which includes T20Is, ODIs, and Test matches. India’s management is considering resting fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna during the ODI portion of the tour to prioritize their fitness for the subsequent Test matches. Prasidh Krishna’s availability is currently uncertain due to a hamstring injury. New Zealand is facing an injury crisis. Fast bowler Will O’Rourke has been ruled out of the ODI and Test series to prioritize his recovery for a later tour of Australia. Head coach Rob Walter stated the decision was made to take a “conservative approach” regarding O’Rourke’s left hamstring and calf injuries. Additionally, Mark Chapman and Zak Foulkes have been removed from the T20I squad due to hamstring and hip flexor injuries, respectively. To fill these vacancies in the T20 squad, New Zealand has called up all-rounder Josh Clarkson and fast bowler Blair Tickner. While Chapman is expected to be available for the subsequent ODI series, Foulkes’ return timeline remains uncertain. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-09: New Zealand cricket faces injury crisis ahead of India series New Zealand faces significant injury setbacks ahead of their series against India, with Will O'Rourke, Mark Chapman, and Zak Foulkes all ruled out of various segments of the tour. 16 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/new-zealand-cricket-squad-hit-by-injuries-ahead-of-india-t20i-series ### 2026-10-05: India may rest key pacers for New Zealand ODI series India may rest Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna during the New Zealand ODI series to manage workloads ahead of crucial upcoming Test matches. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/india-may-rest-key-pacers-for-new-zealand-odi-series --- Cite as: India and New Zealand cricket injury and workload concerns.
