Indian diplomatic representatives in China have engaged in both community outreach and bilateral discussions aimed at addressing diaspora concerns and strengthening economic ties.

During an embassy Open House in Beijing, members of the Indian diaspora raised issues regarding a decline in work visas for professionals, employment restrictions for spouses, consular service difficulties, and an increase in “abusive, anti‑India content on Chinese social media platforms.” Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami stated that Chinese authorities are aware of the online abuse and are taking steps to address it, while the embassy plans to expand cultural programs and develop a legal expert network to assist workers.

Subsequent diplomatic activities included bilateral meetings to foster cooperation. In Beijing, Ambassador Doraiswami met with the Executive Vice President of the China Law Society to discuss international engagement. In Shanghai, Consul General Pratik Mathur met with the President of the Shanghai CCPIT to discuss increasing market access for Indian exports in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, AI, technology, pharmaceuticals, and green development. Both diplomats also led Independence Day celebrations for the Indian diaspora in Beijing and Shanghai.
