Indian cricket captain Shubman Gill has been focused on Test and ODI formats following his exclusion from the T20I squad, a decision attributed to the need for different team combinations and wicketkeeper-batting options.

As India prepares for an upcoming tour of New Zealand, Gill is expected to participate in Ranji Trophy matches to regain match fitness. He is slated to lead the Indian ODI side during the five-match series beginning November 4. New Zealand has responded by announcing a split squad strategy for the tour, which includes a T20I series in late October, followed by the ODI series and a two-match Test series.
