India has established an ambitious target to reach $1 trillion in exports during the current fiscal year, a projected 16 percent increase from the previous year’s $863 billion. To achieve this, the government is focusing on the utilization of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and integrating more deeply into global value chains, with key growth sectors including electronics, pharmaceuticals, and engineering goods.

To support this expansion, the Ministry of MSME is prioritizing the formalization of enterprises, access to finance, and technology adoption to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) compete internationally. Efforts to bolster the sector include the registration of 9.8 crore enterprises on the Udyam platform and a significant increase in financing through the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS). Additionally, initiatives are being implemented to help businesses navigate complex export procedures and international compliance through specialized training in logistics and supply-chain readiness.
