India is experiencing significant industrial and economic expansion characterized by a ‘new industrial revolution’ and shifting investment patterns.

Industrial growth is being propelled by increased private sector participation and government support in high-tech sectors. Key areas of development include the space economy, which aims for a valuation of $40–$45 billion by 2030, and the semiconductor industry, which is seeing approximately $20 billion in investment. Other growing sectors include data centers, electronics manufacturing, and solar production.

On a broader economic scale, growth is expected to be sustained by strong domestic consumption, public infrastructure spending, and a revival in private investment. Projections from the IMF suggest per-capita GDP could grow by more than 9 per cent between 2027 and 2030. This period is also marked by a structural shift in household savings, with a notable increase in the allocation of funds toward mutual funds compared to traditional bank deposits.

Recent assessments from the IMF suggest India is positioned to drive the next wave of global growth. Following discussions with senior officials, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, emphasis has been placed on macroeconomic stability, inflation control, and productivity reforms.

Furthermore, NITI Aayog has identified electric mobility as a strategic imperative for the country’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision. Officials noted that transitioning to electric vehicles could mitigate heavy import vulnerabilities, given that India currently relies on foreign suppliers for approximately 89 per cent of its crude oil requirements.
