Sources: 111. Developments: 9. The five-match T20I series between India and the West Indies ended in a 2-2 draw after the final decider at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was abandoned due to heavy rain on October 17, 2026. The series was leveled in the fourth match in Hyderabad, where the West Indies secured a 24-run victory. West Indies captain Shai Hope set a record for the most T20I hundreds by a West Indies batter with an unbeaten 102 off 50 balls. In response to Arshdeep Singh’s shoulder injury, veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was added to the squad for the final match, marking his return to international cricket after nearly four years. In the rain-affected fifth T20I, the West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl. The match was reduced to a nine-over-a-side contest, during which India set a record for the fastest team fifty in T20I history, reaching the milestone in just 2.5 overs. Ishan Kishan scored 30 runs off 10 balls, and Naman Dhir remained unbeaten on 24 from 6 deliveries. India reached 118/5 in 7.4 overs before heavy downpours forced officials to call off the game. With the match abandoned, both teams shared the trophy. Shai Hope was named Player of the Series after scoring 261 runs, including two centuries. India’s Shreyas Iyer was awarded the Impact Player of the Series medal, finishing as the third-highest run-getter with 181 runs. The abandonment also ended India’s four-year streak of winning consecutive home series. Indian captain Shreyas Iyer noted that the outcome might have differed if the bowling unit had performed better in previous games, specifically highlighting vulnerabilities in death bowling. Following the series, India's T20I vice-captain Tilak Varma remarked that while the batting has been a strength, the bowling department requires “further introspection” before the upcoming tour of New Zealand. ## Claims - India defeated West Indies by 14 runs in the third T20 International to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
