The event, scheduled for October 22, 24, and 25, includes a break on October 23 due to local elections. The display showcases India’s military capabilities with a total of 100 aircraft, consisting of 52 fighter jets, 32 helicopters, and 15 transport aircraft. Participating aircraft include the Rafale, Sukhoi-30MKI, Mirage 2000, Tejas, MiG-29, and Jaguar, alongside Chinook, Apache, and Light Combat Helicopters. Transport aircraft such as the C-17 Globemaster are also featured. Specialized demonstrations include the Surya Kiran aerobatic team and the Sarang helicopter team. Notable formations include the ‘Kashi Formation’ and the ‘Tridev Formation’, which is intended to highlight coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are expected to attend the proceedings. In preparation, the Varanasi Municipal Corporation has focused on sanitation, lighting, barricading, and providing drinking water and mobile toilets to manage the massive crowds expected along the Ganges riverfront. Ahead of the event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level review meeting to coordinate spectator galleries, media arenas, and security checkpoints. To manage the anticipated crowds, the administration planned to divide the area into specific zones and sectors, emphasizing integrated traffic and parking management across land and water routes. Security for the display is extensive, with approximately 11,900 police personnel deployed alongside the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and Anti-Terrorist Squad. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-24: Indian Air Force hosts Wings Over Ganga air show in Varanasi The Indian Air Force is hosting the ‘Wings Over Ganga’ air show in Varanasi to mark its 94th anniversary, featuring advanced fighter jets and aerobatic teams over the Ganga River. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/indian-air-force-hosts-wings-over-ganga-air-show-in-varanasi ### 2026-10-22: Indian Air Force hosts Wings Over Ganges air show in Varanasi The Indian Air Force is celebrating its 94th anniversary with the ‘Wings Over Ganges’ air show in Varanasi, featuring 100 aircraft and advanced aerial manoeuvres over the Ganga. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/indian-air-force-hosts-wings-over-ganges-air-show-in-varanasi ### 2026-10-20: Indian Air Force to host Wings Over Ganges aerial display in Varanasi The Indian Air Force will celebrate its 94th anniversary with the ‘Wings Over Ganges’ aerial display in Varanasi on October 25, featuring 94 aircraft and premier aerobatic teams. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/indian-air-force-to-host-wings-over-ganges-aerial-display-in-varanasi ### 2026-10-17: Varanasi prepares for ‘Wings Over Ganga’ IAF air show Varanasi will host the ‘Wings Over Ganga’ air show on October 22, 24, and 25 to mark the Indian Air Force's 94th anniversary, featuring advanced fighter jets and expected attendance by PM Modi. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/varanasi-to-host-wings-over-ganga-air-force-air-show ### 2026-10-03: Varanasi to host Indian Air Force air show at Namo Ghat An Indian Air Force air show will be held at Varanasi's Namo Ghat from October 24-26, with PM Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expected to attend the main event on October 25. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/varanasi-to-host-indian-air-force-air-show-at-namo-ghat --- Cite as: Indian Air Force anniversary celebrations in Varanasi.
