The political tension between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party escalated following remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a water project launch in New Delhi. Shah criticized the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), suggesting that the Congress party would be unable to return to power for the next 30 years due to its “negative politics.” He further alleged that opposition claims regarding the Election Commission are merely excuses for electoral losses. In response, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge challenged Shah’s predictions during an event in Patna. Kharge dismissed the assertions as attempts to mislead the public and accused the government of maintaining power through the manipulation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the appointment of loyalists to key positions. Kharge also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding unfulfilled promises on black money and addressed the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). ## Timeline ### 2026-10-25: Mallikarjun Kharge criticizes Amit Shah over political predictions Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge dismissed Amit Shah’s prediction that Congress will not hold power for 30 years, alleging reliance on EVM manipulation and political loyalists. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mallikarjun-kharge-criticizes-amit-shah-over-political-predictions ### 2026-10-23: Amit Shah criticizes Congress and AAP during Delhi water projects launch Home Minister Amit Shah criticized Congress and AAP in Delhi, stating that protests alone cannot win elections and predicting Congress will remain out of power for 30 years. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/amit-shah-criticizes-congress-and-aap-during-delhi-water-projects-launch --- Cite as: Indian political dispute between BJP and Congress.
