Indian Railways is expanding its Amrit Bharat Express service to improve long-distance connectivity. On August 25, a new weekly route began connecting Coimbatore Junction in Tamil Nadu to Dhanbad Junction in Jharkhand, passing through seven states. This service utilizes push-pull technology and is designed to provide affordable travel for students, traders, and senior citizens.

Following this, on August 26, a second new Amrit Bharat Express service was announced to connect Bhagalpur in Bihar to Ahmedabad in Gujarat. 

Separately, railway operations are being adjusted due to platform upgrades at Puri Station. From late August through October 2026, several Gandhidham-Puri Express trains will undergo route changes, including partial cancellations or short-terminating and short-originating at Maltipatpur Station.
