The 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season commenced with several opening matches. Kerala Blasters FC secured a 2-0 victory over Inter Kashi FC at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune. Vibin Mohanan opened the scoring in the 18th minute following an assist from Korou Singh, and Andre Green secured the win with a goal in stoppage time. Inter Kashi fielded an all-Indian roster due to a FIFA transfer-registration ban, while the Blasters utilized a revamped squad under head coach Ashley Westwood.

Debutant Borja Martínez scored twice, but SC Delhi held a 2-1 lead at halftime following an equalizer by Rodriguinho and an own goal by Bengaluru defender Menno Koch. Koch redeemed himself with an 89th-minute header from a Soham Varshneya cross to secure the victory.

Additionally, FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC played to a 1-1 draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda. After a scoreless first half, Irfan Yadwad scored for Chennaiyin in the 64th minute, before Chiki equalized for FC Goa with a header from a free kick in the 75th minute.
