Initial preparations focused on the return of star point guard Tyrese Haliburton from an Achilles tendon injury and the acquisition of center Ivica Zubac from the Los Angeles Clippers to replace Myles Turner. Subsequent updates detailed several coaching and front office changes, including the appointment of Jannero Pargo as assistant coach and director of player development, and Mike Bron as vice president of player personnel. On the court, Zubac reported positive chemistry with Haliburton during preseason activities. While veteran forward James Johnson faces potential roster delays due to hard cap restrictions, head coach Rick Carlisle is working to integrate franchise legends into the team culture. Recent developments include further coaching staff updates, with Isaac Yacob joining Pargo as an assistant coach, alongside promotions for Martin Tombe and Joel Okafor. Head coach Rick Carlisle has also announced a redesign of the team’s offensive system to maximize Zubac’s impact. Carlisle described Zubac as “one of the best centers in the league,” citing his physical strength, passing ability, and high basketball IQ as tools to create pressure in the paint. The strategy aims to establish Zubac as the primary starting center alongside Haliburton. Additionally, the franchise continues its efforts to mentor current players by integrating legends such as Reggie Miller and Dale Davis into the team culture. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-29: Indiana Pacers announce coaching changes and offensive redesign The Indiana Pacers are restructuring their coaching staff and offensive system to center around new starting center Ivica Zubac and star Tyrese Haliburton for the upcoming NBA season. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/indiana-pacers-announce-coaching-changes-and-roster-updates ### 2026-09-11: Indiana Pacers prepare for NBA season with Haliburton return and Zubac acquisition The Indiana Pacers look to rebound after a poor season, focusing on Tyrese Haliburton's return from injury and the defensive impact of new center Ivica Zubac. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/indiana-pacers-prepare-for-nba-season-with-haliburton-return-and-zubac-acquisition --- Cite as: Indiana Pacers roster and coaching updates.
