In mid-to-late July 2026, Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy, led by Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya, accelerated its three flagship programmes—Aktivasi Desa Kreatif, Aktivasi Creative Hub, and Creative by Indonesia—under the 2026–2045 Rindekraf master plan, with Bali serving as an international showcase. To bolster international competitiveness, the ministry engaged with the U.S. Embassy to deepen gaming sector cooperation, including the establishment of American Corners and support for the American Spaces Indonesia Esports Development (ASIED) programme. Deputy Minister Irene Umar also promoted Indonesia as a global collaboration space for international creators. On 21 July, an inter‑ministerial agreement with Higher Education targeted research commercialisation, curriculum redesign, and IP protection. Youth and talent development initiatives included 100 Banpin scholarships in Bekasi and tuition-coverage at BINUS Malang for AI and digital technopreneurship. On 26 July, the Makassar Creative Hub (MCH) Nusantara opened to support digital arts and entrepreneurship, while a partnership with the AMANAH foundation expanded Aceh’s Creative Hub and Creative by Indonesia programmes for local crafts and digital content. On 27 July, BRIN and the ministry signed a MoU on research, funding, IP, and cultural protection. On 1 August, Harsya launched the Re:Rasa International Poster Biennale 2026, emphasizing AI in visual communication. By early August, the ministry intensified its focus on the film and gaming sectors. Minister Harsya noted that international film co-productions, such as the French-Indonesian ‘Happy Eyes’, act as catalysts for economic growth by driving demand in tourism and hospitality. To support the gaming subsector, which saw an 18.22 percent increase, the Ministry of Communication and Digital expanded ‘Internet Villages’ to approximately 2,000 points. In late August, Indonesia and the Philippines agreed to strengthen bilateral ties to expand market access across Southeast Asia.
