Indonesia is preparing to host its inaugural National Beach Games, known as PON Pantai, in the Ancol area of North Jakarta in November 2026. The event is a collaborative effort involving the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI Pusat), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, KONI DKI Jakarta, and Jaya Ancol.

KONI Pusat Chairman Marciano Norman noted that the venue aims to promote “sport tourism” by merging athletic competition with popular tourist destinations. The initiative is designed to develop beach sports and identify talent for international competition. The planned disciplines include aquatic sports like open water swimming and water polo, ball games such as beach volleyball, beach handball, 3x3 basketball, and rugby, as well as sailing, diving, teqball, triathlon, and modern pentathlon.

Beyond athletic development, the event aims to boost the local economy and support small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) near the venue.
