In early July 2026 Indonesia’s post‑disaster task force announced an additional Rp100.166 trillion budget for the 2026‑2028 rehabilitation master plan covering Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. Seven ministries received the first allocations, and officials stressed rapid procurement, contract signing and project rollout, with particular attention to restoring housing, basic infrastructure and fuel (BBM) distribution in West Sumatra.

By early August, Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian, who chairs the task force, urged 16 ministries and agencies to accelerate implementation. He noted that half of the 32 designated ministries had already received funds and highlighted ongoing flooding in districts such as Agam, Tapanuli Tengah and Padang, which continues to damage rebuilt works. Karnavian warned that full recovery will take several years, with river normalization and flood mitigation posing the biggest challenges.
