The Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy launched the ‘Creative Recovery for Children’ program in Aceh Tamiang to support students affected by flash floods. The initiative focuses on restoring the psychosocial well-being of elementary and middle school students through fine arts and crafts. A notable component of the training involves using natural pigments from flood mud and dust as painting media.

Following these efforts, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar promoted the use of art for psychosocial recovery in disaster-affected areas, including Aceh Tamiang and Pariaman. During an exhibition in Jakarta, Iskandar emphasized that recovery must go beyond physical infrastructure to provide children with safe spaces to process trauma. He noted that fostering these creative talents could eventually integrate children into the national creative economy for long-term empowerment.
