Sources: 17. Developments: 4. Indonesia’s national sports teams are preparing for various international competitions in late 2026. The women’s national football team, led by coach Akira Higashiyama, is scheduled to play friendly matches against Armenia and Jordan in Jordan as part of preparations for the 2027 ASEAN Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, the men’s national football team is planning two away matches during the November 2026 FIFA Matchday, with a match against Jordan in Amman confirmed and Kuwait identified as a potential opponent for the 2027 Asian Cup preparation. In a major development for the men’s senior squad, Indonesia won the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, securing its first senior-level trophy since the 1991 SEA Games. The championship was decided via a penalty shootout against Thailand, highlighted by a decisive save from goalkeeper Emil Audero against Nattapong Sayriya. The tournament run included late-game heroics, such as two injury-time goals against Bangladesh. This success is attributed to a significant naturalization program involving diaspora players with Indonesian ancestry, facilitated by government cooperation. Key contributors to the title include Emil Audero, Kevin Diks, Ole Romeny, Dean James, and Joey Pelupessy, alongside established players like Justin Hubner, Calvin Verdonk, Thom Haye, and Ragnar Oratmangoen. In futsal, the Indonesian national team, coached by Hector Souto, competed in the VI Copa das Nacoes de Futsal 2026 in Brazil. Indonesia finished the tournament without a win, losing all three group stage matches against Brazil (0-3), Cape Verde (0-2), and Afghanistan. In their final classification match for 5th and 6th place, Indonesia lost 1-2 to Peru, with Yogi Saputra scoring the team’s lone goal. ## Claims - Brazil defeated Indonesia 3-0 in a Copa Das Nacoes De Futsal 2026 match.
