Indonesian authorities, including the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) and the National Police (Polri), have targeted a cross-border Business Email Compromise (BEC) scheme involving the United States and China.

In August 2026, investigators identified a fraud where email communications between Aiki Power Tools in the U.S. and Drup Machinery Corp in China were manipulated to redirect a hardware transaction. The scheme resulted in the theft of approximately $350,325 USD.

Law enforcement arrested an Indonesian national, LPK (56), accused of preparing legal documentation and bank accounts, and a Chinese national, LJ (46), who allegedly facilitated communications. Working with the FBI and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), authorities successfully blocked and secured roughly $285,859 USD for potential recovery. While two suspects are in custody, the alleged mastermind, identified as CW, remains at large in China.
