Authorities in Vietnam have launched investigations into multiple companies regarding the illegal disposal of industrial and hazardous waste.

In Vinh Long, police initiated criminal proceedings against three individuals associated with Phu Long Joint Stock Company. The Deputy Director, Le Minh Phuc, was arrested following allegations that approximately 48 tons of industrial waste, including over 4.1 tons of exceptionally hazardous material, were buried within the company’s workshop and garage areas between March and May 2024.

Separately, the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam has concluded an investigation into Phu Minh Vina Environment Co., Ltd. regarding the illegal disposal of 12,318 tons of waste. Between July 2025 and June 2026, the company reportedly made approximately 533 trips to transport waste from its facility in Tram Than, Phu Tho province, to unauthorized locations in Hanoi and Phu Tho. The company utilized Duc Minh Khoi Transport Service and Trading Co., Ltd. to handle the transportation.

Laboratory analysis of landfill samples indicated that mineral oil levels exceeded technical environmental standards for hazardous materials. Investigators identified four groups of behaviors suggesting criminal activity, including the illegal dumping of waste and the improper handling of industrial and medical waste. Consequently, the case has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Security and provincial police for potential prosecution under Article 235 of the Penal Code.
