In Tegucigalpa, Honduras, municipal authorities have initiated several infrastructure projects to address environmental risks and urban mobility. Mayor Juan Diego Zelaya inaugurated a flood and landslide mitigation project in the Miramesí colony, supported by the German development bank KfW. This 103 million lempira investment utilizes cyclopean concrete, anchored pile screens, and over 210 piles and 900 anchors to protect over 50,000 residents near the Choluteca River. The project also included the creation of a new public plaza.

Additionally, the Central District Municipal Mayor’s Office (AMDC) has reached 95% completion on a road rehabilitation project in the Kennedy colony. This effort involves recycling approximately 46,100 square meters of asphalt with an estimated investment of 85.1 million lempiras to benefit roughly 200,000 residents. While most work is complete, recent rains have delayed the final horizontal signaling of secondary streets and alleys.

Further infrastructure developments include the completion of a 20-meter long retaining wall in the 21 de Octubre neighborhood to secure a roadway used by approximately 9,500 vehicles daily. This project involved reconstructing drainage systems, sidewalks, and installing metal railings. In the villages of Santa Cruz and San José de Soroguara, the municipality is maintaining 17 kilometers of road and improving public spaces, such as a community park. Regarding urban policy, the AMDC announced that unclaimed vehicles and motorcycles held for more than 90 days will be sent for recycling.
