Sicily is undergoing extensive infrastructure and safety works across its road networks. The Ministry of Infrastructure has deployed inspectors to monitor the A18 Messina-Catania and A20 Messina-Palermo highways, which require tunnel repairs and pavement work. These projects have led to mandatory traffic diversions and lane restrictions expected to continue through late 2026.

In Caltagirone, a 1.5 million euro project has been launched to secure the Santo Stefano district by reconstructing sewage networks and reinforcing slopes to mitigate hydrogeological risks like landslides.

Regional maintenance is also progressing in other provinces. In Trapani, over 2.2 million euros are being invested to repair provincial roads SP 50, 62, and 40, with a projected completion date of March 2028. Meanwhile, approximately 1.9 million euros have been allocated for the maintenance of regional roads SR 61, 63, and 73 in the Ragusa and Scicli territories to improve safety and drainage.
