Intel is marking the 50th anniversary of its presence in Japan through various promotional and commemorative activities. Initial celebrations included a consumer campaign running from September 19 to November 8, 2026, featuring lottery prizes for customers purchasing Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) desktop processors or compatible PCs. Following these promotions, Intel held a formal reception in Tokyo themed ‘The Next Fifty Starts Now’. The event was attended by approximately 400 guests, including Intel US CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Intel Japan President Makoto Ono, government officials, and industry partners. During the ceremony, Lip-Bu Tan noted that Japan served as the company’s first overseas market and was instrumental in the early development of microprocessors, such as the ‘4004’, created in collaboration with Busicom. The event also featured remarks from Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry official Takashi Kadomatsu and U.S. Ambassador George E. Glass, highlighting the strategic importance of semiconductors and the Japan-U.S. partnership. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-07: Intel celebrates 50th anniversary of its Japanese subsidiary in Tokyo Intel celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Japanese subsidiary in Tokyo, highlighting the deep historical ties between the company and Japan in the development of microprocessors and semiconductor technology. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/intel-celebrates-50th-anniversary-of-its-japanese-subsidiary-in-tokyo ### 2026-09-15: Intel celebrates 50 years in Japan with Core Ultra processor promotions Intel is celebrating 50 years in Japan with a promotional campaign for Core Ultra processors, while PC Watch marks its 30th anniversary with a Core Ultra 7 270K Plus giveaway. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/intel-celebrates-50-years-in-japan-with-core-ultra-processor-promotions --- Cite as: Intel 50th anniversary in Japan.
