Developments: 3. Inter Milan secured its first victory of the UEFA Champions League campaign with a 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk, courtesy of a goal from Carlos Augusto. The match was notable for the expulsion of Alessandro Bastoni, which provided an emotional boost to the squad. Following this European success, manager Cristian Chivu is preparing for an eighth-round Serie A fixture against ACF Fiorentina at the San Siro. To manage player fatigue, Chivu is expected to implement significant squad rotations, potentially making up to five changes to the starting lineup. Anticipated defensive adjustments include the return of Bisseck to the starting eleven alongside Akanji and Bastoni, with Carlos Augusto expected to cover for Federico Dimarco on the left flank and Diouf potentially featuring on the right. In midfield, Piotr Zielinski is a candidate to replace Hakan Calhanoglu, while Pio Esposito is positioned to return to the attacking lineup, potentially replacing Bonny. Inter Milan enters the match as the league leader with 19 points after seven matches, boasting a strong offensive record of 21 goals scored and only 9 conceded. Conversely, Fiorentina is currently struggling in the relegation zone with only four points this season, having not secured a league victory since September 11 against Venezia. ## Claims - Inter Milan will play Shakhtar Donetsk on October 21, 2026, at 21:00.
