Internal tensions have emerged within the Brazilian media conglomerate Globo following various forms of criticism from professionals and artists regarding the network’s conduct and editorial direction. Initially, a group of TV Globo professionals filed a formal complaint against reporter Álvaro Pereira Júnior. The complaint followed his social media comments in which he labeled economist Gil do Vigor a “falso acadêmico” (fake academic). Colleagues expressed dissatisfaction, alleging the reporter violated the broadcaster’s code of conduct. This friction expanded to include broader criticisms of the network’s journalistic coverage, specifically regarding the 2026 election and the interview formats used by Jornal Nacional.
