During ‘Operation Thor’, an international investigation into arms trafficking and organized crime involving SIPA, Europol, and the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, a police officer died following a raid.

Mujo Brkić, an officer with the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds after his office at the Ilijaš Police Station was searched. Investigators suspect Brkić was linked to the Swedish-based ‘Foxtrot’ criminal network and allegedly used forged documentation to facilitate weapon purchases.

Authorities have linked at least four pistols purchased in Bosnia and Herzegovina to five murders in Sweden. During the raids in Sarajevo, Doboj, and Bratunca, officials seized nine hunting rifles, five pistols, ammunition, and documentation regarding weapon permits and sales.
