Turkey has hosted major international chess tournaments in Sultangazi and Gaziantep. In Sultangazi, the 9th International Istanbul Open Chess Tournament concluded with 682 athletes from 19 countries and 45 Turkish provinces competing for a 1 million TL prize pool. 

Concurrently, the 1st Gazi Open International Open Tournament began in Gaziantep. This event, which attracted approximately 700 applicants from 23 countries, features four categories and a 1.5 million TL prize pool, aiming to establish the city as a global chess hub.
