The international football landscape in late 2026 is marked by significant transitions for major national teams and players.

In late September, the Brazil national team began a new cycle under coach Carlo Ancelotti, preparing for friendlies against Australia and India. During this same period, anticipation grew regarding Lionel Messi’s farewell from the Argentina national team, with a final match against Benin expected on October 6.

By early October, Lionel Messi officially announced his retirement from international football. Other notable developments in the sport included the Italian Under-21 national team qualifying for the European Championship, news regarding Juventus in the transfer market, and the move of manager Francesco Farioli to FC Porto.
