Representatives, including UNESCO Assistant Director General Dr. Fatima bint Ibrahim Al-Ruways, emphasized the need for a shared competency framework and the integration of indigenous languages and community knowledge into education. During the proceedings, UNESCO presented the 2026 International Literacy Prizes, including the Rey Sejong Literacy Prize awarded to Colombia’s ‘Escuelas LEO’ program.
