During the Brazilian presidential election cycle, prominent international musicians have publicly endorsed Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The American rock band The Strokes declared support for Lula da Silva via social media, featuring a graphic of the candidate and a song remix. Following the endorsement, vocalist Julian Casablancas highlighted allegations regarding Meta’s role in reducing the visibility of Lula da Silva’s content.

Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters has also released video messages urging high voter turnout to support the reelection of Lula da Silva, whom he described as an ‘honest’ leader. Waters has called for turnout to significantly exceed the 78% recorded in the first round of voting, suggesting a goal of 90% or higher and encouraging families to assist the elderly in reaching polling stations.

In his appeals, Waters criticized the previous administration and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, specifically referencing the 2018 assassination of Marielle Franco as a motivation for voting. He further raised concerns regarding Brazil’s sovereignty, alleging that certain political interests are working in coordination with the United States to exploit the Amazon rainforest and the country’s mineral resources.
