The state-owned technology company INVAP is marking its 50th anniversary. Founded in Bariloche through the efforts of Conrado Varotto and professionals from the Bariloche Atomic Center, the firm has expanded from a research program into a global provider of nuclear reactors, satellites, radar systems, defense technology, and nuclear medicine.

In recognition of this milestone, the Legislature of Río Negro unanimously approved a declaration of provincial interest. During these proceedings, General Manager Darío Giussi highlighted the company’s self-sustaining business model, noting that INVAP operates with a surplus by reinvesting profits from national and international contracts into research and development. 

Río Negro Governor Alberto Weretilneck described the company as a ‘state policy,’ emphasizing its role in maintaining technological sovereignty and positioning the province as a significant scientific hub.
