On October 23, 2026, the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Public Ministry (MP) conducted a raid at the Dr. Imrich Fischmann Vocational Technical Institute in Zone 13 of Guatemala City. The operation involved the inspection of mobile devices following a judicial requirement. Initial reports noted that parents gathered at the school due to concerns that students were being held against their will and were unable to communicate after teachers confiscated mobile phones. By October 26, it was revealed that the searches targeted the mobile devices of approximately 200 students across nine sections. Judicial sources indicated the investigation concerns audiovisual material containing sexual content allegedly involving minors. In response to the police action, classes have been suspended. Parents have since organized protests at the institute to demand answers from school authorities. Additional grievances include concerns over academic evaluations, specifically regarding a plan to conduct upcoming exams online with ten-minute time limits. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Parents protest at Instituto Fischmann following police investigation Parents are protesting at Instituto Fischmann following a police investigation into illegal sexual content involving minors, which included the inspection of 200 students' mobile devices. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/parents-protest-at-instituto-fischmann-following-police-investigation ### 2026-10-23: Guatemala authorities conduct raid at Dr. Imrich Fischmann Institute Guatemalan police and the Public Ministry are raiding the Dr. Imrich Fischmann Institute in Guatemala City to inspect mobile devices, amid concerns from parents regarding student communication. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/guatemala-authorities-conduct-raid-at-dr-imrich-fischmann-institute --- Cite as: Investigation at Dr. Imrich Fischmann Institute.
